Upland bird vest recommendations

Why do they discourage an orange vest??Unless they like Ga made legal wear a hot pink vest guess that decision was made in name of Diversity
Well traditionally a bird hunter would wear a white shirt with a white or red hat for safety. Their policy is based nothing more than that. Hunter safety orange did not come around until the 60’s. It is definitely one of, if not the nicest preserve, I have ever hunted and you are unlikely to be with a beginner or novice.

I believe Georgia law only requires orange when hunting deer, bear, or hogs. As a guest on their farm, I adhere to their policy just as I do when I go to places that require orange. If you want to dress up like safety Santa, I am sure they would let you. Not everything is a political hot button issue.

Get a quality strap vest. It will fit over anything you want, so you control layers. I use it my Pineo vest (Avatar) way more often now than my Orvis Plantation Vest. You do loose front-loading ability, but have plenty of pockets and shell holders.

Pineo is made by a sucessor company now, more expensive but I still see them new, along with lots of old ones. I paid $180 several years ago from original producer.

On any vest with Blaze Orange, my experience is that the more you are in the sun, the quicker it fades, regardless of maker.

Yeah, the strap vests are the way to go. I can’t tell you how many times I have started the morning out with a jacket only to be down to a long sleeve or t-shirt by noon.

This is the one I have:

Smiley, how is that mesh holding up on your vest? They had problems with it seperating where sewn into the vest. My vest has it, but only in the upper shoulder, and has held well.

Haven’t had any issues with it yet, but only had it a couple years and it hangs in my downstairs closet when I am not using it. Time will tell, but it seems pretty tough right now.
