Want to learn how to ride a motorcycle

Late to this thread. I've ridden all kinds, from dirt bikes, sport bikes, to big Harleys. Get what you feel comfortable on. I'd start at 600 if you're unsure or nervous about riding. Anything smaller and you outgrow it too fast, 600 will last awhile while you learn. Sport bikes are incredibly uncomfortable on lone rides if you're tall like me. Take some motorcycle courses, just practice, they aren't hard to ride.

And as everyone else has said, it's mostly the other drivers you have to watch out for because they don't see you.

I ended up selling my bikes after too many close calls and having kids that I want to see grow up.

For Gods Sake Man, Just get on the bike and ride it.
Can you ride a Bicycle? Can you drive a Standard Transmission Car/Truck? Then you can ride a Motorcycle.

Buy what you want, Get on it, and ride it like you stole it.

Now, with that said. I took the MSF course because I had to if I want to take my bike on Military Installation (Fort Stewart Ga) It is a good class and you will learn some safety stuff but, most of that goes out the window when you start having to deal with Ga Drivers in their cages
This might possably be the worst advice I have ever heard for a new motorcyclist.

The only thing that keeps you alive on a bike is your skill. Jumping on one green and going zipping around is a good way to get seriously ****ed up or dead. They are almost nothing like a bicycle. Most new riders are going to drop their bike within the first 300 miles and riding in Atlanta traffic requires more skill, not less.

Take the MSF course at the Lawrenceville DDS office on Hurricane Shoals Rd when they open things back up.

Worth every penny.

And if you want a learner bike, buy a $2000 beater off CL or Facebook. Ninja 300, something along those lines, or a small cruiser...

Cruisers are slow, but they are heavy and typically have crappy brakes, don't handle very well... But they SEEM less intimidating to people who see the word "sport" and think it is too much... sportbikes start at 25hp and go up to 200hp+ firebreathing monsters... Start small with whatever you do, because you are gonna drop it...

I have been riding dirt since 1982 and street since 1996... Owned 26 street bikes in that time and have logged well over 300k miles on the street and race track... Happy to help out, if you need it.

North Texas Motorcycle Safety Course, MCKINNEY TX, 75071. HD in Allen is where we'll meet for the fist 4-ish hours then off to a closed course at a stadium parking lot.

I'll be making pickups at Freedom Powersports out that way. Don't know if I've been to that Harley dealer, most of my customers are metric.
