Anyone repair washers? I believe my washer bearing needs to be replaced. It looks pretty easy online, but the tool is pricey (~$120), while the part is only about $65.

Looking for one of the following:
1. Someone willing to let me rent the tool for a reasonable price.
2. A certified appliance repair person willing to repair the washer for a reasonable price.

Please let me know soon (via PM please). I plan to order the part and tool later in the week if I don’t get any replies.

Thanks!

I did the bearing race in mine with a rivet gun and bearing race installer tool from harbor freight. Not sure what your tool looks like but if it's just a race it should be fairly simple to do. Advantage of a rivet gun or air hammer is hundredS of small taps per minute instead of big whacks by a hammer which can potentially screw up the drum.

My wife has the same washer, change the bearing forget the tool. Install with light....light taps with a hammer. Did mine about a year ago, still working good. Ordered the part off of amazon, best price I found. Kit comes with bearing, seals, center shaft, grease and sealant.
