I started at about six when we went I went with my dad at my grandparents. Was absolutely hooked from the get go. Got a daughter turning 7 soon and thinking id like to move her up from her BB gun she has proven to be very responsible and safe with. When did you start shooting and when did you start your kids if you got any?

Man I can't wait for this. My daughter just turned 6 and my son is almost 2 so I've got about another 2-3 yrs before I start letting my daughter shoot a 22 rifle. I figure I'll do the same with my son...around 8. I got my first 10/22 when I was 10

Seven.

With an AK.

He's ten now and very responsible.

Here he is at seven.

I started my daughter at 6 with a single shot .22 rifle loaded with colibris. They're quiet so you can skip the hearing protection and she can clearly hear instruction. We could also shoot in the backyard for only as much time as she could focus. If you make a trip to shoot, you may keep going past the point where your kids is focused and paying attention. I focused on two safety rules- keep the rifle pointed in a safe direction and finger off the trigger till ready to shoot.

After close to a year we started regular .22. We also started going to Appleseeds together. She's nine now and has moved up to a 10/22 with a shortened stock.
