What caliber has caused more casualties than any other in wartime?

8mm mausers and the 7.62x54r were so mass in numbers that i'd say one of those.

if you were closer to the soviet union ro part of it you had the mosins, and if you were in the more modern side of europe around Germany you had 8mm mauser most likely.
 
I think the soviets took huge and enormous losses in manpower due to 8mm Over 8 million soldiers officially and 40 millions causality a in ww2 alone.

this is true but you have to look at how many of them were caused by being shot, by far the biggest killers in the wars is starvation and disease
 
Another vote for 54R... But 303 (if you consider WW's and colonial fighting) and 8mm have both sure done a lot of fighting... The Jap calibers racked up huge numbers in China/ Manchuria too early in the war
