Looking to build another AR, addicted to building them. I have one in 556, 9mm, 300 blk. So my question is, what caliber should I do next? Should I do 7.62x39 or another 556. I know there are some other calibers like 6.8 but have no knowledge of them. Might even use this rifle for hog hunting. Open to all suggestions.

Check out 68forums for all the info you'd ever want on the 6.8. Good hog medicine.

I have four 5.56, one 308 and two 6.8's. I will have to be honest I love the 6.8 cartridge. I have even got into reloading this caliber. It's a .277 ( basically a light 270 round ) with a 110 gr. projectile pulling 3000 ft per second. It's a show stopper. Good for deer, bear, hogs you name it. You can carry a ton of ammo and it's a highly accurate round. With a Barnes 95 gr. all copper TTSX bullet reaps devastating carnage. A great all around round. I have heard of hunters dropping elk at 300 yards with this round. The recoil is just a tad more that the 5.56 so follow up shots are an option where the 308 isn't so much.

50 Beowulf!!

I like the odd calibers that you have to reload for.
So 277 wolverine and 6x45. ....
