What did we learn from Irma?

my wife a daughter now know that all the "when i was a kid" stuff i tell them is true. we had homemade tacos on night 2 without power..
looking to keep a better stock of water on hand. i go thru about 2 cases a week at my shop. i will just buy about 10 cases to keep at home, and rotate out when i run out at work. that way i will always have a good fresh stock. hand pump for my well, and a propane genny.

I never lost power, but still learned a few things while pre-storm prepping...

I need to stock up on more batteries and I need to get a couple more LED lanterns.

Google "EMAS pump" and do some reading. They're pretty easy to build and WAY cheaper than store bought hand pumps.

My wells water level is 60' down and the EMAS pump I built pulls the water up and out no problem.

A generator will easily power a well pump.

i found a bunch of cheap propane conversions on ebay. i think i will buy one and test it. if it works good, i will get a good brand name one,or just buy 3 of the cheap ones...
