What did you do to better your prep today?

Been ordering freezed dried #10 cans each time I get paid for a few months. I am about to start storing beans, lentils, rice, wheat, and corn in 5 gallon buckets. Items on the list still haven't purchased are hand pump for well, water storage containers. My only worry is I have one close neighbor and a little worried my hand pump will disappear if I put it out there in a SHTF situation.

Insulated my, thanks to Talkstosquirrls, Faraday box with cardboard, and placed valuable electronics inside, like Night Vision, GPS, Radio's, TV, etc to keep them EMP safe.

Again...why?

Im with GaMudd. I must have missed the 'must collect mercury' part of my preppin. Please fill us in.

I narrowed down my search for a 4x4 Diesel. Diesel last a heck of a lot longer than gas, allowing for long term storage. Not to mention the potential usage of alternate fuels ie: vegetable oil and refining your own diesel. Not to mention chipping a 2003-2005 dodge 2500 can get you up to 27 mpg! Add a brush guard and you can run down those pesky rioters. !! No but really a good investment IMHO.

Glad you put it to good use. I'd rather trade it for 1 mag to someone that would use it, and have a chance at communication with them when an EMP takes down our ability to communicate via air, than get $150 for it and have nobody one the other end of my HAM that I know. Did you say nightvision? :)

Yep, momocular style, from wally world, clearance for $99, wire ties nicely to military rihno NV mount in place of issued monocular.
Flip up or down for use, mounted to Kevlar Helmet and with Eotech that are NV compatable, gotta luv the dark and its element of surprize, surprize, surprize.

Added to my "get home" bag - pretty much complete for a 2 day walk home except for mapping alternate routes since I probably won't be walking up Rt. 75 or Rt 575.

Bought 14 cans of #10 freeze dried food to add to the shelves. Found a very low cost supplier for Mountain House but it still adds up, then bought a couple from Kudzu Tactical. Then got really interested in finding out how to create those #10 cans ourselves and found that it's insanely easy and much lower cost to buy bulk foods, load up the cans, add O2 absorbers and seal them. Biggest cost is the can sealer, but we may buy one and then lease it out. Still thinking about that as the initial setup is well over $1K.

Other than that - married 20 years this March and my wife wants to go look for land in ID instead of going on a trip to the Carribean or Hawaii. How's that for a cool wife? Either that, or I just don't look that good in a speedo anymore :).
