Just curious, how much did it cost to dig the well, and how deep did you go?
Nice. Hand pump is the only way to ensure a functioning pump in an EMP/CME situation. It will take out electrical pumps in a New York Minute. As for the 12V pump, THAT is what you put in your Faraday cage. I am going to try to reach the guy I got my aluminum box from, see if I can get the whole lot from him, nest them and offer them up. A good alternative to protect your emergency electronics immediately is a microwave believe it or not. Go to the Good Will and pick up the oldest, biggest microwave oven you can find. It will be like $5-10. Cut the cord off it and your set. The cord acts as an antenna and will negate its protection from an EMP. It will also ensure little Johnny doesn't fry your mew pump and walkies.
As for me and my day, I picked an area of my property that does not get allot of sun and prepped it to grow non strong-sun reliant food. Lettuce, cabbage, spinach in spring. Oh... and replaced my keg, keg lines and CO2/Nitrogen mix. Did the required daily stir to my first batch of scuppernong wine as well as vinegar my girl and I are making.
My place is in Lauren's county, and our water table isn't suffering all that bad. We hit water at 60ft, dug the well 240ft, dropped the electric pump 120ft. We use a 4 1/2 pvc casing with 1.5 horse motor using 1.25 supply line to a 120 gallon tank...I've got a friend who dug mine for less than $5000 which included all the items mentioned above. I will be posting the story along with pics once all this is complete! We plan to dig another one at our hunting camp out in the middle of no-where! One things for sure...I WILL HAVE WATER!

Did something today I've been thinking about for awhile. I worked out a deal with the local liquor store on 48 1/2 pint bottles of Jim Beam to use for bartering. Regular price was 2.59, I paid 1.99. Tax and all was $102 and some change. Made sense to have small sealed bottles for bartering. I'm probably gonna add one more case soon. If anybody else is interested let me know and I'll see if we can get a better deal.

Good idea but learn how to make your own. The alcohol can be used as fuel!
I loaded (new brass) 1,000 rounds of 5.56 and 500 rounds of .40 cal.

Cabela's is running, $20 off $150, so I got some new camping/minor shtf stuff. Katadyn hand pump water purifier(came with a free hydration bladder too) and tripod stove for the small fuel cells. Going to Wally World before UGA/Auburn to pick up a bunch of the fuel. Nothing major, but it's good and functional in the meantime.
I'm also refining my home brewing from extract to all grain, so I'm brewing a batch of IPA(Dogfishead 60 minute clone) as soon as my wort chiller comes from NY Brew Supply.
