What did you do to better your prep today?

For drinkers yes! But you will eventually run out. Money is better spent for personal needs in my opinion.

Yeah, the personal needs for my family of five are taken care of. The only things I'm adding now are things that I think will have good trade value. But maybe I'm wrong. Maybe whiskey won't be a good bartering item? Might need to rethink this and just drink it. :)

I took your lead (great idea, I might add) and brought home a case of JB 100 ml today, 48 bottles for $90.75, also picked up 300 clear butane lighters, food is safe & stored, ammo is stashed, rifle sighted in, pistol loaded, all dressed up and no place to go.Where th hell a Zombie when you need one.

Cool. If you need any help let me know :D

Built my 5.45 Adams Arms Ar, ordering a eagle duty belt, TAG assault vest. Going full blown gear queer for SHTF.

Question: Where is a cheap place to purchase BULK canned food in or around northern ga/atlanta?

It will have value in a long term situation, but I prefer to stick with high proof clear liquor. That way it can also be used as an antiseptic.

Show me both. I think it's outrageous the cost of those cans from wisefood and whatnot. I'd really like to find just Dole veggies, Bush's beans, Gree Giant, things like that.

Check out Big Lots. You never know what they will have, but check every week or two and you will find bargains in canned food, paper products, and lots of other stuff. Get on their email list. Several times a year they do store wide 20% off and that is a good time to really stock up. You get notification and coupons for the 20% off via email.

My first 3 months of food stores consists primarily of canned and dehydrated foods. Like B. Byrd said, Big Lots is a good place to find some canned food bargains. Aldi's is another place to find some deals. I buy bulk food at Restaurant Depot in Norcross every once and awhile I will buy for others (my cost plus sales tax) as it is a membership only warehouse for businesses.

This week I added three more (5 total) propane tanks for the grill. I built a "Big Berkey" type water filter and added a few hundred rounds of ammo.
Can anybody recommend a good solar charger for household batteries? I'd like to pick up something with a meter that could charge batteries from AAA to 6 volt lantern batteries.
