What did you do to better your prep today?

I really need to get my act together and start stockpiling. I've always wanted to know, what is bottled water shelf life? Sure they have expiration dates, but how long till it's unsafe to drink?

It just depends, but with the regular bottled water you really have to worry about the bottles themselves breaking down. I just rotated some stocks yesterday and found some that was expired. you'll notice how the bottles themselves feel very weak, and malleable. Also the caps will start to get brittle.
What you can do is buy your initial few cases, and then every week when you get another case, put that in the back, and pull out your oldest case to drink from that one.
I will keep the 1 gallon jugs til their exp date, then move it to the dogs' stash for another six months. lol I figure if they can eat their own crap then old water should be fine.

Oh and today all I did was hit the gym for some shoulders and legs. lol I do have to agree with HGUNHNTR about the fitness being very important. He just words it a little harshly.

I've been working out and taking care of myself for over 20 years and firmly believe people are their own worst enemies when it comes to their own health and well being. However, MOST of the reply from you are condescending, no getting around that. It's too bad you can't just offer advice without trying to make others feel less than you THINK you are. :(

ALrighty, guess I still don't see the condescending part.

Bought a bit I like to have on hand even if it isn't teotwawki.

Books of matches are great, and you can buy a grazillion for $5
Tea Bags, cheap and make old water taste...better. Also helps a toothache.
Foodsaver-Seals damned near anything and will extend the life of semi-perishable goods. A great way to store feminine hygiene type stuff.

this is a forum..on a computer screen....nothing makes me feel lower than anyone if i am reading it on a screen

just my opinion

oh and I ran for 27 min on the treadmill today @ 5.8 mph lol

IMO, HGUN is right. Well, at least for me. No health issues and no meds at my "advanced" age of 52 lol so I am lucky there but I could definitely pay better attention to my body. I am working on stocking up on necessities and always seem to overlook myself while preparing. Thanks for the reminder. Good thread.

would a metal shipping container sitting on the ground be emp proof? bought a new 22 pistol today!
WOW, over 2,000 views? Havn't been back for a while!! As for the metal shipping container, if it were aluminum, definitely. But, here is the trick... nest whatever you are using. Alum or copper is best but expensive. To nest you use cardboard. Force fit it so the entire inside is surrounded by cardboard, then wrap whatever you want to protect in aluminum foil, saran wrap, alum foil, saran wrap, alum foil... alternate and set it in the nested box and you should be good.

I ran 3 miles today. Not sure if I gave the 'I got chickens' update or not, but did that a little while ago. Fresh eggs every single day!

Instructed two of my closer friends on proper shooting today...never hurts to have people who can have your back should the day come.
