I’ve driven/owned many Dodge products. Just as most domestic vehicles, they have a definite early expiration date. As long as you can keep throwing money at it in repairs, you’ll be fine. It boils down to if you like it and it’s what you want, then go for it.
I would use caution. As others have said the 4.7 have issues. Of course I'm sure it's not the dumbest way to spend five grand. I've always like the grand Cherokees.
I've never known him to steer me wrong, but wanted a 2nd and 3rd opinion because I really (think) I want this vehicle.

Lasts forever if you rework the heads, new valves and new lifters between 175k and 195k. If not planning on doing that, stay away from it.

My honest opinion is it's older, you'll have to do repairs. The asking price seems high for the mileage. You ought to be able to find a similar one for half that. Then you'll have the money for repairs. Rebuilt trans 1800-2000 respectively, and other items along the way, you'll be up to 5k before you know it. I've owned 4 of them, so I'm speaking from experience.
