What happened to the turkey shoots?

Here is the info on the Hightower Baptist Church shoot. I won’t be there but it is my families church for decades and they do a good job with it. All interested should go and support the church programs.

Used to be this time of year turkey shoots where being put on everywhere. Churchs, civic groups and VFW's always had them but these days they seem to be few and far between.
When I was a little kid I used to think that everybody just shot the turkeys right then and there. Didn't seem very sporting to me .
Brunswick, GA still has them. The Exchange Club Website says they will be having turkey shoots 11/19 - 11/26, except Sunday. No time was given. Shoots will be at the Exchange Club Fair Grounds, Brunswick, GA, 101 Emory Dawson Road, 31520,
912-265-0464.

Went to one with my dad in early 70’s that used live turkeys.they would tie there legs and lay them behind a log and all you could see was there head and everyone used the same 22 rifle from 30 yards open sight.free handed..25 cents a shot.we were there about 2 hours I seen 3 turkeys killed.im sure that’s a big no no now.it was called turkey behind log shoot it was in Monticello ga.
