I've come across a 12g beretta 391 urika with wood stock. Good condition but no chokes, box, or original paperwork. Is $625 a fair price? I'm having a hard time putting a value on it. Would this retain it value better than a new beretta a300 outlander I could buy new for $700 out the door? Which is better? Opinions?

Buy the new one. You get 3 chokes and it's new. Still a fair price though.

Are you asking if you could get one for $700 out the door? If so, that's a steal.

I have been seeing the outlander for around $650 in synthetic stock $7-750 for wood. I'm thinking I might go that route. I just don't know if the 391 is a better gun.

It is. I'd take the 391 all day.

As a point of reference, I bought a synthetic 391 Urika with case and chokes for $600 on here last fall that looked darn near new. I believe the retail price on that gun was in the ~$900 range. The 391 is a sweet gun with very little recoil even compared to my AL390.

So now I'm on the fence again... I've been looking for a while and haven't seen any better deals on the 391 (Or anything used for that matter). The 391 does feel higher quality to me but there is something to be said about a new gun.
