What is it and value?

Hopefully the pictures can help me determine what I have here. It's been in my possession for 35 years at least. Not sure how I acquired it.

I'm not positive on this, but that looks like a shell for a M1916 37mm gun. It was developed by the French, used primarily by French and American forces in WWI for destroying machine gun emplacements. Other ODT history buffs may have different info.

Steely Dan? 1.17 caliber? 1.17 inches in diameter? Would that equal 37mm?

NOPE 37mm is 1.45caliber.
