What is the reason for the shortage of reloading supplies? Primers, brass, bullets, and powder?

Has any of u checked on reloading supply’s from other country’s?..they are available regular price, and can’t do buissness in the United States!

GunTalk Radio had a rep from Federal on recently, and he explained it pretty simply.

Every ammo manufacturer is scrambling for components to make ammo right now. Not only is civilian use sky high with all the new gun owners, military orders have gone through the roof with the Ukraine war.

Primers are the hardest hit since they are used everywhere and not many places make them. They are truly explosives (unlike powder) and getting a new plant up and running is a years-long process.

He said right now every existing primer plant is running 7x24, but almost all of that is going into new ammo.

Powders are more available now. You can pretty much find whatever you want if you really look, but the prices are still up there because again, you're competing with new ammo production and the supply is limited.

This guy seemed to think that powder would drop down in price a bit soon, and definitely become more available pretty soon.

On the flip side he said we'd be dealing with primer shortages for the next year or two, until some of the new plants being planned come online.
