if they are not in an area you pass by everyday I would leave them alone they are natural killers of yellow jackets, red wasps and guinea wasps as long as that nest is not directly touched or affected they should not give you a problem but if you piss them off you better run like you robbed a bank

We lived in another state at the time but my wife contacted a group that picked up hives of some weird hornets like this to collect the venom to make an anti venom. Don’t know who it’d be here but maybe a bee keeper might know.

Get a can of bengal and spray them at night when they all there , that’s what I did , they were all dead next morning
