What is this thing?

I bought a box of gun parts and I find this thing. It's solid steel. flat on the back @ 2.5" long, 1.5" tall, 3/8" thick. I've seen them before but can't recollect where or for what purpose.

It is a fore-skin hammer.

Its a metal thingamajig with a tit on top. It goes in a whatchamacallit to turn the doohickey.

It's a leftover piece form a bad gun rebuild....( I don't know it just fell out I didn't see were it came from everything seems to work ok ) it's that part
