What kind of oak is this?

Huge crop of those last year where I hunt. Got a bunch of hogs that were wearing out these acorns. It was the sweetest wild game I have ever had.

I plan to hit them again when I see these acorns.

Sounds like good news for the quality of the bear meat.
 
I've got a bunch of them growing around a beaver swamp down at my farm. I always thought they were chestnut oaks but they also look like the chinkapin oaks these other guys are referencing. Regardless they make big acorns and the deer seem to love them.
