OK I know that ODT is a bright group (with a few exceptions) what kind of pear is this one, its beside a small-medium apple for scale.

Hard pear I call it preserve pear (cooking type).

Any ideas?

It is a quince, a member of the pear family. You only eat them when they turn yellow/gold because otherwise they are extremely hard and not digestible. I had a tree in my back yard that produced over 300 quince each year. They make great jelly for canning. Thanks.
