Got a new pair of Vortex Viper 8x42s. I spent 2 hours comparing binos side by side at Cabelas. These were the brightest I looked through and the field of view was a bit better than the 10x42s which I like better for Georgia.
 
Besides the obvious.... :tape: .... it's a lot easier/less movement to use binos.

Exactly.

I have a cheap, cheap pair of compact 8x Tasco binos that I take from time to time. They are clear and functional and serve to make sure I'm shooting a legal buck (4 points of a side). I've been told that a quality pair of binos are a must but I haven't been able to justify spending the money on a pair yet.
