If your subdivision has a HOA, just call the president and tell him you have a Copperhead violating the covenants. He'll come take care of it.

22 shot does not kill a copperhead. I think I even got a headshot on that one. Just makes it madder. 12 ga loaded with #8 birdshot cuts them in half. 00 buck makes holes, but does not cut them.

Definitely shovel over a hoe or it may take a number of swings to dispatch, especially on a larger one.

On a side note, aren't hoes outdated/obsolete? And yes, I am referring to the garden variety.
