A friend of mine totalled his truck last Wednesday. Its a 1997 K1500. 134,000 original miles. Very well taken care of and everything worked before the accident. Still fires right up.

He is trying to sell it as is. I think what he wants for it is too high but id like other people's opinion. He wants 2K picked up in Atlanta

What do you think its worth to the right person?

I'm not a gearhead, but I'm thinking that $2K is too much.
The vehicle may "have been" (past tense) in good condition, but now it looks like a used Kleenex all wadded up and ready to be tossed in the trash can.
Aside from the looks, we're talking about a 21 year old vehicle. A lot of things are about to go bad, at that age. Rubber hoses, gaskets, insulation on the wiring. Any plastic part can be brittle and ready to crack after 20 years of daily driving and sitting outside.

Truck sold in decent shape would go for around $2500
If no damage to frame, and it appears there might be, you are looking at 1-1.5k to fix. (Assuming you have it done professionally) Of course that could be low, I haven't taken anything to be fixed in years.
So I would say that Bikers $800 would be fair.
