Rock Island Armory. GI model is about $350-375, Tactical $400-425, Match $500-525ish are about the going rates around here. Hands down the best bang for the buck.

I noticed this lil fella earlier and it was actually what got me to thinking about going the cheaper route. I really prefer the 5" models though for the tim being. Is RIA interchangeable with all other 1911 parts if I did decide to dress it up a little?

I got a SA 1911 GI 45 for under $500 shipped (before I was a dealer). Very good gun for the money.

If you don't care about the beavertail, hammer, trigger, or sights then def look at the SA GI, but if you want all the fancy stuff the RIA tactical is hard to beat

Not sure about the others but I love my Taurus! She tight and accurate right out of the box. You are correct, they come with a number of "extras" stock

Best for the money is the Cetadel compact. Its a better (IMO) version of the RIA's. You can get one for $500 at Academy. Check'em out. I owned one and it was more reliable than my kimber.
