What's the Best Budget 1911 to get started with??

Thanks for all the great info guys it's really got the lil hampster at a full oout sprint now... I may just have to get one of each and then to justify that purchase grab a nice Spinger Loaded SS with the next bonus...

Best for the money is the Cetadel compact. Its a better (IMO) version of the RIA's. You can get one for $500 at Academy. Check'em out. I owned one and it was more reliable than my kimber.
that's not saying much, I've watched the gun store tell numerous people they'd get a Kimberly as a range piece, not a carry. To me even the TIA felt cheaply made, once you field strip one and look inside, it looks like a toy.

I'd pick up a $300-$350 Llama to see if a 1911 is for you. Not a huge investment and you could get your money back if you hated the platform.

Only a few of the LLamas can be classified as 1911s.

A lot of guys do not care for the LLama .45s, I am very partial to them. My first .45 was a LLama IX. I put many a reload round through it and never had a problem.

Another 1911 to consider, if you can find a nice one, is the Norino Model 1911A1. These can be had for around $450-$500 in really nice condition.

I was in a similar boat. Was looking at the S&W which was cheaper than the Kimber Custom II I went with. I paid $650 I wanna say for my Kimber. It looks and performs great and I didn't have to spend any extra money on skeletonized hammer and trigger.
