I it's been 2-3yrs on that battery you could eek just a bit more out of it with a good recharge, w/ out overcharging it, and a trickle charger. Most batteries only see 3-4yrs at most. I can get a little more out of mine but I do a bit more maintenance to it and use a battery tender.I still want to get a new one..I dont know how old it is.
Try an AGM battery. Little stronger and less prone to heat and vibration which is what kills batteries besides sitting in a state of discharge.
Btw a car battery has roughly 4x the CCA of a motorcycle battery. Lot of amperage to put through a system with mostly 18-20ga wiring.
Also, you need to have a minimum 10.5vdc (general spec) under load (while cranking starter) If its been a while try a low amp charge for 3-4 hours. But don't leave it in unattended to or overnight. It will over charge or swell or worse. A little external charge every once in a while really helps extend the life of it. And always charge it out of the bike.
