What's your concern in a gun shop?

Both... I don't buy from shops where the staff behave like the comic book store guy on the Simpsons and if you don't have a good selection I'm likely to not find anything to buy.

What's my concern in a gun shop? If I see a lot of employees wearing 1911's with the hammer back I get a little edgy.

Please tell me this is a joke. If not, this lack of knowledge in the store's employees.

Best price. I dont care to make friends in the shop with the employees. I buy from the shop with the best price.

Customer service is a high priority but if there is not an interesting selection in stock what does it matter. but all things equal I will drive out of my way for good customer service. I am just over shops that only carry the exact thins every other shop carries.I like a good selection of used guns.

I couldn't care less about customer service. I'm there to look at, or purchase firearms not receive some sort of ego massage. Just be in the background ready to give me paperwork if I make a decision. I don't care about your stories, opinions, what you did with your grandkids last week, or about your opinion of some new gun.

Very few gun store salespeople understand customer service, or the need to respect the people who make their paychecks possible. Character of the management and of the owner trumps price. A tip to the salespeople here. The individual asking you a question may very well be testing you when they ask you a question. They may already know the answer, so don't blow smoke. Not everyone at the counter is a novice. Just because they don't act it, doesn't mean they haven't seen their particular elephant.

Definitely gun and ammo selection. The customer service comes from the manufacturer. If you are new to guns, take a trusted friend with you.

I would have to say both. Due to the recent craze I walked into a local shop that was obviously gouging prices, but also acted like they were doing you a favor allowing you to come in and look. Do these shops really want to have customers when the craziness is over?

I'm going with selection then customer service. I remember most of the eh'holes and simply go for another sales assoc.
