I've been looking at getting a couple of foam lined cases to transport guns. Primarily I'm just looking for something secure and sturdy that will help get guns and magazines to the range and back, but who knows - maybe transport by air someday.

Seems like there are a lot of options out there in this space right now: Condition 1, Pelican, Case Club, etc. Pricing seems similar but there are some differences - some US made, some from Jaina; some offer custom cuts, some you have to do yourself, etc.

Do you have any favorites? Horror stories?

I was at Charlie Elliott a LONG time ago and this guy rolls up with a flatbed cart with 6 or 7 Pelican long gun cases.

I thought to myself - that dude's got more tied up in cases than I did in the guns I brought that day.

The wheeled rifle cases make transport easier. For range trips I use soft cases. Lighter/easier.

For handguns I use a Nanuk 935 with a 5 handgun insert.

I landed up going with condition 1 due to the high quality wheels they use and it's all American made. After doing my share of research, I opted to make my own divider system using foam board I cut to my needs. Pelican uses their own proprietary dividing system which is high quality and very nice but very expensive.

I have a bunch of Pelican cases for rifles. I hardly ever use them. I have range bags and soft rifle cases from Midway which are surprisingly good. Those get used much more.

Recently, I have just discovered Savior Equipment gun cases. Unbelievable high quality cases, accessories and range bags.

They are also on Amazon.
