When your car has had enough of you ignoring the check engine light

Police Interceptor Crown Vics were notorious for having the check engine light come on constantly. Our mechanics would simply put black electrical tape over it so we’d quit bitching about it.

That’s what I did to my 2003 Chevy 1500. Light came on in 05, sick of it by 06 added tape….still runs great

Most of the time it was the dang fuel cap/vent causing it. Our shop did the same thing.

Didn’t know about that causing it. I did know that the coil packs in those things went out ALL THE TIME. Very expensive to replace then.

Don’t worry about your airbag not working. If you crash, you’ll probably be going to fast for it to work anyway.
