Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego June -October 1971 followed by two months running hills at Camp Pendleton. Then a year at school at NAS Glynco GA. What a great place to go to school. Jekyll and St Simons were a blast in 1972

US Army, September 1979, C-13-4, Fort Knox Ky, Open Bay Barracks, Drill Sergeant Gryder was a Hard Ass but he turned us all into Hard Asses too, lol. I actually gained weight in Basic went from 178lbs to 203lbs but solid. Can't say that now. Went on to do 20 years and retire as a Master Sergeant.

I was in flight school with a dude that went to boot at Ft Knox. He used to tell horror stories about running up two giant hills during PT. "Misery" and "Agony", I believe that is what he said the Drills called them, lol.

Dang, I remember Agony and Misery in 79. They sucked. Wonder how many remember the Gas Chamber and that big ass Oak Tree that was right outside the side door that you had to exit. Don't know how many trainees ran into that big ass tree, even though we were all warned about it.
