Which Barrett 50 cal would you buy?

.
Do you own 50 flat acres or more with a substantial backstop and simply buying a 50BMG due to the upcoming Armageddon ? If so then throw down the cash and buy the most expensive semi auto with it’s brand-specific matching suppressor that you can comfortably afford.

Or are you buying because you’re planning to shoot in long-range competition ? Then a single-shot Barrett bolt action or Armalite AR50 NM will be more accurate and 1/3 the price (of the semi-auto Barrett) with a bonus of using any-brand suppressor you want.

Personally if I couldn’t shoot a 50bmg out back of the house then I would choose a lighter and more portable rifle chambered in a runner-up caliber, something like the 338LM (suppressors only cost half too).

Surplus 50BMG ammo, and occasionally new can sometimes be found in bulk for +/- $2 each but shipping UPS is high due to weight and its cartridge size, so best to buy in quantity and have shipped via freight-line.

I’m not gonna be shooting on 50 acres , only 5-10 acres
Have a nice big backstop
I don’t want to spend 10k , more like 5-8
Any suggestions for me?

For 5-8k I think your only option is the serbu single shot 50. I think all the Barrett's are gonna be more than that.

you can’t get one of these?

I tried to find any legitimate beef about the Armalite AR-50 on the sniper hide and 1moa forums.. but rather it seems to turn a lot of frowns upside-down :thumb:

Fella recently sold a brand new one here on ODT, was asking $3,000-3500. I tried hard to trade him one of my NFA shotguns plus cash but we couldn’t close it.

Damn thank you for mentioning this … surely a fraction of the cost for seemingly the same thing

Save some money and go with the Armalite AR-50. You could get the bolt action Barrett for a lot less than the semi-autos, but I'd personally rather have the Armalite anyway. The semi-auto Barretts are cool, but aside from coolness and wasting expensive ammo faster, I just dont see the point in dropping that much money on one. The bolt actions are typically going to be more accurate anyway.
