Again - all you need in the Eastern US is something that will stop a human attack. You have a higher likelihood of being attacked by a shark wearing a clown suit than a black bear.

I keep running into them too. They are really mean.

Glock 20 w/ hot Double Tap loads. 15+1 and fast follow up shots...for something that can run 20+mph, would make me feel a little better having the most capacity possible. I've even read stories of them being shot with the .375h&h and fighting for a few minutes...shot placement. All it's ever gonna boil down to.


Has been my back up "woods" gun and wouldn't change it due to the versatility.

All joking aside I would just strap on the .40 or .45 and go on my hike. I would take the off because I would be more concerned about the skeeters.
