Which scope would you buy and why, 4 options

My next scope is going to be a Leopold VX-R 4X12. I have got close to dark and not been able to see the crosshairs looking a deer. I had to let it walk when I really needed the meat. Next year will be different though.
I need a little more zoom than that, but those fire dot scopes are nice just pricey.

For what it is worth I use my Nikon Monarch 7 binocular when searching for a target. I would never use my scope. You can see so much more with binoculars than a scope and you don't point your gun at possible friendly targets.

Where majority of the hunting is done, we have planted plots on private land so no friendly fire worries, and it's fairly evident when something moves. On WMA's around here I take a smaller setup due to all the hiking going on to get away from everyone else.

I don't throw my gun up unless I have a confirmed deer.

I would hope so.. but you are still moving your gun around from deer to deer.. or looking behind any deer with your scope for additional movement.

Out of the 4 you linked, I’d go:

1. NF SHV

2. Trijicon

3. VVPST

4. Nikon

I’ll admit to ranking the Nikon last because I don’t see nearly as many of them as the other three, so I don’t have as much experience with them.

Nice bucks for sure! I am just not a binoculars guy.

All those bucks except one.. Were killed within 15 minutes of sunrise or sunset. All under lowlight settings. For me personally I couldn’t class and designate the buck as a mature shooter without Binocs.

Nor have I ever shot a button buck.. But truthfully on my land, I don’t shoot does during gun.. We harvest does during bow.. During the rut our guns don’t come off safe for a doe.

I had the same setup but had a lost hunter come through bleeding from all the briars he went through. I had to escort him back to the road. Another time I had a kid come through with no blaze orange hunting rabbits. All posted private land.
