Also he sees a lot of scopes come through his classes and sees what works and what doesn't.Thanks. I see he does a lot of long range shooting so I definitely would value his input.

I need a little more zoom than that, but those fire dot scopes are nice just pricey. My next scope is going to be a Leopold VX-R 4X12. I have got close to dark and not been able to see the crosshairs looking a deer. I had to let it walk when I really needed the meat. Next year will be different though.
Where majority of the hunting is done, we have planted plots on private land so no friendly fire worries, and it's fairly evident when something moves. On WMA's around here I take a smaller setup due to all the hiking going on to get away from everyone else. For what it is worth I use my Nikon Monarch 7 binocular when searching for a target. I would never use my scope. You can see so much more with binoculars than a scope and you don't point your gun at possible friendly targets.

Nice bucks for sure! I am just not a binoculars guy.I would hope so.. but you are still moving your gun around from deer to deer.. or looking behind any deer with your scope for additional movement.

I had the same setup but had a lost hunter come through bleeding from all the briars he went through. I had to escort him back to the road. Another time I had a kid come through with no blaze orange hunting rabbits.
