Who all carry a pistol while deer hunting

I almost always have a J frame in my pocket. I have used it to dispatch a rattle snake while bird hunting I have also used it to finish a deer I didnt want to wait to expire. Yes the shotgun I was holding would have worked on the snake but it was more fun to take it with my snub.
Did not carry one until RATTLE SNAKE crawled right under my tree stand and stopped. Was little hard to dispatch with muzzle loader. Carried one since then proved to helpful more than once.

I do not go many places without one. After seeing the movie Deliverance years ago.

I do when hunting on the ground since having a coyote walk up close to my deer blind last year
