Who deer hunts with 45-70?

In for info on your bullet selection. I’m going to finish the year with mine. I have some 300gr speers I’m going to load but might try some of the 325gr FTX too. I have half a box of those. They shoot great out of my rifle and they are dang killers in my 35rem

What he says....I shot an 8 pointer last season at about 50-60 yards using these and it hit the ground with a thud, never moved or twitched, I mean it literally nearly hit the ground on his back

325 FTX is what I use. Never had a deer or hog take 1 step after the hammer dropped.

I've considered loading down some 200 gr loads for my 375H&H for deer/hog just to get it out of the gun safe.
