If you're gonna fly over the shooting enemy, what better way to be protected? Assuming the Huey was high up at all times.

I think pops reasoning was they weren't going to live to see 1970! He's 78ish now and still telling stories this past weekend about some yahoo from Alabama jumping out of a bird begging for hot soup and cold beer-go figure LOL.
