Who knows about Corolla transmissions?

I thought I was going to have to swap out the transmission on a 97 corolla. The transmission slips and grabs when shifting to 4th gear. (According to my daughter)

The more I read, the more I am thinking about swapping out the shift solenoids and filter instead.

What parts exactly do I need? How many solenoids do I need? I am seeing contradictory information on the web, and I know autozone won’t have it in stock and then they will charge me more than double what I could buy it for if I ordered it on the internet.

Any help?

you should have 2 shift solenoids a 1-2 and a 3-4
you might get lucky

more than likely though...

the trans computer is detecting slipping and upping
the pressure to compensate for wear hence why its
banging into gear
