Hey Gang,

I'm dealing with an attorney that handled a deceased relative's estate and is not returning calls or emails as to the disposition of their personal property. We're not talking high end items, just family pics, etc. I feel like they keep putting me off hoping I'll go away. So, if you have a complaint about an attorney, who do you go to? Who ensures they are following the law and/or doing what they should?

Thanks!

I'd send the attorney a letter stating you must receive a return call upon receipt: one via Regular Mail, one via Certified Mail - Return Receipt Requested.

If that bears no fruit in a reasonable time, call the State Bar of Georgia- responsible for the licence to practice law. Only you know what is reasonable, given your experience with your attorney.

I hope the issues get resolved.

What do you call 1,000 lawyers at the bottom of the ocean?

A good start

I dealt with a liar 3 years ago. Paid him $8k to lie to me
Lowest form of life on earth.
There's a reason a large percentage of politicians are lawyers.
If you have to hire one hire the slimmest one you can find and just hope he's slimmer than their lawyer.
Calling the Ga Bar Assoc is probably the best advice you'll get here.
Good luck.

Contact another Lawyer and explain the situation. That Lawyer will contact the other and then assume your case. If that doesn’t fix the issue, have the new lawyer draft a notification to the previous lawyer, terminating your professional relationship. Be sure to state you’re not paying he/her fee due to failure to provide the service you were promised.

Who's the probate judge? Contact their office and explain what's going on.
