I don't have a carry permit but then again I live in Kennesaw. I don't see a need to, and I know it wouldn't hurt to have it but, I'm a broke college kid. That's $70 bucks I can put towards food, books, or a couple six packs. Maybe in a couple months I'll reconsider. Either way, my pistol lives in my car so it's never to far way. I mean statistically speaking I'm more likely to use it to defend myself at home.

I have a GWL because I carry daily and want to be within the law. It does make purchasing go quicker and I appreciate that, but mostly to be able to legally carry everywhere except prohibited places.

Why do I carry?

Same reason I have a fire extinguisher in the kitchen. Not that I plan on having a fire, but if I do I have the tool I need to put it out hopefully.

I read on another site that before the police come to your house for they check to see if you have a permit . If you do , and depending on why they are coming , they send a SWAT team instead of a regular officer . Any truth there ?

If they are going through all that trouble, they are sending a SWAT team anyway.

I used to hunt the WMAs a lot for hogs... It is my understanding that if you have a GWL you can carry a side arm for back up purposes. During small game season, I hunted with a 22lr rifle.... so I figured it smart to have a back up.....

A right that you have to get permission from the government to excercise is reduced to a priviledge.
