Why does my car cut off & jerk while im driving

I have a 1992 caprice, new plugs,wires,distr, ign control mod. But its still acting up. Recently my car has been acting funny. It ride smooth when its cold but after it heats up then it gets hard to take off, like if I am at a light it takes off really weak & I have to trump all the way down on the pedal then it kind of kicks me in the back and catches on. It also started cutting off randomly. Then sometimes it cranks right back up & sometimes it doesn't. Anyone else ever had this problem. I am going to try the shop sometime this week but would love to fix the problem myself.

I would try a fuel filter. If it is not the cause - it is a maintenance item anyway.

Fuel filter. If that don't help, could be fuel pump or even cam/crank position sensor.

did the fuel filter 30 mins ago still acting up I keep 93 gas in it as well

It could be one of a dozen things. Get it checked by a mechanic and stop throwing money at it until you know for sure what the problem is. It is likely a sensor of some sort.

Let me add that I made a rookie mistake about a month ago and sprayed a little water on the engine and may have got something electrical wet but what would cause my problem if it was wet?

The water would have dried by now so I wouldn't worry about that.

Does it die out as you are slowing or coming to a stop or just when at cruising speeds? Does it hesitate only when accelerating from a stop or when you accelerate at speed also?
