Why is everyone AFRAID TO SHIP A FIREARM?!

I live in South Georgia so most of the deals on here are 3-4 hours away. However, for a truly good deal, I will travel if the seller won't ship and did so this past Sunday to meet a fellow ODTer and pick up a new "toy".

However, I have no problems shipping anything, including firearms. My other hobby, which is just as expensive, is paintball. I've shipped high end markers all over our country as well as to Europe and Canada. I use Paypal all the time and have done many thousands of dollars worth of transactions. One thing that works out great for me is that my wife's company uses UPS and covers my shipping.

It's rather simple to use PayPal and NOT use the "gift" option. The Gifting option is bad because it leaves the buyer no recourse of action should the seller decide not to ship. Instead, use a PayPal calculator like this one: http://ppcalc.com/ and just add in the fees. So, if you're selling a gun for $500 cash, it would be $515.25 PayPaled and you still end up with the same amount.

For shipping, go to the UPS site and figure in shipping. You can print a label and request a pick up from their site. You can even request signature confirmation. If it's not a firearms, USPS is even easier with flat rate boxes and labels can be printed right out of PayPal. Oh, and USPS boxes are free, they'll send them right to your house and YOU CAN use them with UPS. UPS really doesn't care. I do it all the time.

So, say I'm going to sell a holster for $50 FTF. I know I can get the holster in a small flat rate box, and the cost for that is $5.35. So, that would be $55.35 plus paypal fees, which using the PayPal calculator site, tells me I would need $57.31 so I just round up to $58. So, $50 FTF or $58 shipped. Heck, I may even add $2 to round it out to $60 and make a little more for virtually no hassle.

Exactly my point, they ship anything and everything, but mention a "firearm" and they $hit a pelican. I have no problem shipping anything in the mail. It is easy and cheap in most cases. I ship a LOT mainly on other sites, optics, handguns, uppers, ect.. never had a problem

I understand that's the point your making and my answers have been my reasoning for not shipping. For me my desire to have the item in my hand when payment is received trumps the negatives of FTF transactions. This is just how I feel and don't see it changing anytime soon.

So do you have a problem shipping things to other people? The question is why are people afraid to ship items.

By the way as far as cost is concerned in state shipping via u p s ground is overnight shipping.

I dont understand the question, I dont even know if it is a question..LOL
Overnight shipping is not required as far as I know.

NOPE COMPLETELY LEGAL...

A nonlicensee may ship a firearm by a common or contract carrier to a resident of his or her own State or to a licensee in any State. A common or contract carrier must be used to ship a handgun. In addition, Federal law requires that the carrier be notified that the shipment contains a firearm and prohibits common or contract carriers from requiring or causing any label to be placed on any package indicating that it contains a firearm.

You couldn't ship a hand gun privately from Canada to the states.

If it was something I needed then of course I would have it shipped. I have shipped things before and will probably do it again but its been small inexpensive things. I would just rather not if I could help it.
