Why is everyone ditching the 300 BO

You can use adjustable braces and shoulder then. You can not modify them like removing the velcro from the Sba 3 brace. Where you support it doesn't modify it. So you can have a legal adjustment brace and shoulder it. This changed about two years ago.

Agreed.

I see .300 BO as the answer to a problem that doesnt exist, unless it is suppressed. Otherwise it is a good, but nothing stellar, and expensive cartridge. I've never needed one. I can see the appeal, though, if using a .30cal suppressor.

I built both of mine to suppress. Waiting on my suppressor approval. About 5 more months to go. When I get it in I will start reloading to get some subsonic loads with a 10.5 inch barrel. I may have to go with some faster burning rate powder. Also will reload some good deer rounds for my granddaughters to get their first deer with.
Kind of wondering if the 6.5 grendal would have been a better option.

How is 300blk expensive? It's less than 50cents a round for plinking ammo.

I pay less than .20 per round for 7.62x39. In comparison, even 5.56 is a lot less expensive. I dont see any advantage in owning .300 unless it is suppressed. What advantages, unsuppressed, does .300 BO have to justify paying more than double for the ammo? I'm being serious. If there is some clear advantage that I dont know about, I'm all ears.

Want to burn cheap ammo, shoot a 5.56. Want a harder hitting hunting round out of the same platform AND have the ability to shoot subsonic hunting rounds? Shoot the 300BO.

Reloads for the 300BO cost no more than other calibers with a 200 gr bullet.

Advantages over 556 is you get a lot better performance out of a short barrel.

x39 is for AK's, if I want to shoot cheap x39 I'll shoot my AK's and SKS's. But if I want to shoot an SBR/pistol AR at ranges a pistol caliber can't touch 300blk is the way to go. I just have no interest in a x39 AR and dealing with picky magazines and dirty ass steel case ammo in a direct impingement platform.

I'm definitely not saying it's the best caliber ever, but it has its place. The idea that it's only good suppressed or it's too expensive doesn't make any sense to me.

I actually have 0 interest in subsonic 300blk. If I was just going to shoot subs suppressed I'd be more interested in a pistol caliber carbine than a slow moving 30 caliber.

I dont disagree with you, only saying I have no need for it. I think suppressed with a short barrel is the place where .300 BO shines, and for my personal needs it doesnt fit in. Just personal preference. I see no reason to own one unless it is a sbr and suppressed. And I am not saying it's a bad round. It is quite versatile, in fact, but for the extra cost of ammo,, and unsuppressed, I might as well have an AR10.
