Sorry I've spent all my post college working life under Obama... So paying less taxes is a new and welcome idea. But can or will Trump and his tax plans have any affect on the taxes that we will file next April??

This year no. The current tax law will be in effect for the '16 filing season. But next year, who knows... it depends on what gets worked out in Congress (who still makes law and taxes) rather than Trump.
