Winter time at the ranch.

Great pics. She definitely has an eye for photography. My favorites are the horse by the barn, the line of cows with the fog in the background, and the 1st pic of the bull with steam coming out of his nose.

As a 35+ year photographer myself, a couple suggestions. I’m not criticizing and I don’t know the parameters of the contest, but it’s for future use as well.

1 have her try some close ups of the cowboys faces, like she did the cows and horse. 85mm is a great focal length, especially on faces.

2,. Have her try to blur the background if it’s not within 5 feet. The close up of the horse is great. The one of the cow with “150” tag in it’s ear would work great with a blurred background. Have her learn to use the f stops or aperture to get this effect.

3. Have her try her hand at B&W photography. It evokes more emotion than color when you’re not relying on skin tones to capture the feeling of the scene. Obviously, this doesn’t work with sunsets.

Tell her to keep up the great work.

Always loved the open land. It's such a beautiful sight. Are you strictly a cattle rancher? And how many heads? Thanks for sharing
Ranching only. We have 600 spring calving cows and 500 fall calving cows and will put out around 1500 steers for summer grazing.
