Without Power….Again…

Went to family reunion in SC

my grandmother was born in 1899 and had 11 kids , my 89 yr old father and his younger sister are the only ones left, but there’s a ton folks show up every year .

Got back Saturday just before dark , power was out ,

It came back on Sunday around midnight

Glad I have one of the Honda EU-2000 generators .

Kept both fridges and both freezers and some ceiling fans and my internet and tv going .

That’s the best generator ever made I think .

Then the power went off again today

I’m gonna need to look at a transfer switch and reworking some circuits so I dont have to drag out 3 extension cords and two power strips .

I actually have two of em and we’re using em both , but neither seems like they were working very hard so I plugged everything into one and it worked fine

Only thing is you gotta plug in everything a few minutes apart

If you plugged all that in to one cord and then plugged that cord in the genny it would overload it with the startup current .

When the fridge or freezer starts up it uses some juice and makes the genny rev up for a few seconds then it settles back down

The Hondas have a switch so you can have it run full speed or you can have it adjust its speed to just what it needs at the moment , which saves a lot of gas

And you can get a cord from Honda that plugs into both generators and matches the power and provides a 220 volt outlet if you need that .

And the Hondas are clean electricity

We use em at work , we have some variable speed water pumps we drop down in wells , and the Hondas are the only genny that the variable frequency drive will work with and be happy

Any other genny and the variable frequency drive will trip it’s breaker .

Interesting on well pump. Yes, I envisioned you running around flipping things on and off. Kept you quite busy, I'm sure. I am a retired electrician amongst other things, so I get it.

We were out for 5/6 hours. Luckily the IPad was charged and we watched movies on it. Generator was in the basement but no fuel. I told my wife we HAVE to start keeping fuel on hand. I don’t want to waste the months worth of food in the freezer/fridge. Just keep the gas rotation going.

Get some E0 and add stabilizer and you'll only have to rotate once a year (if that)

Ethanol free with Stabil in 2X 5 gallon jugs, on rotation for the mowers. Don't even have to think about whether it's good or not on the rare occaision that I have to tap into it for the generator.

For this storm we were out for about 20 hours. Probably ran the generator for 10 of those. Can't tell you the last time I ran it, but the ethanol-free and stabil that was sitting in it ran without a hiccup.
