Woodworking/Cabinet making help needed!

Not really a cabinet, but a knowledgeable woodworker who is a cabinet maker may be able to help me out.

My future DIL wants my son and I to make a podium for her new teaching position. The picture depicts the style. I am 100% confident I can make the base, bottom molding, and shelves. What I am confused on is how to make the slant top with the molding around the front and two sides, where there are no gaps in the corners and in the front between the front base face and the top molding? I hope this makes sense?

Does anyone know of a youtube video that can best explain how to do this?

I can do that, if that is the technique needed to make it look like this?

I'd say you need a compound miter saw to do 2 angles at the same time
