You ought to look into Jim Green footwear, they're a South African company. I just got these not too long ago, you get a ton of boot for the money. $325 after taxes and shipping. No synthetics besides thermoplastic toe and heel counter and a single foam insole (and the outsole, if you count that). 360 stitch down construction on these with a full gusset tongue and combo roughout/nubuck 8" uppers. I've been very impressed with the quality of these so far, though I haven't put them through any really strenuous stuff yet, so I can't tell you exactly how mine have performed in detail. Jim Green's boots usually receive stellar reviews though.View attachment 9200890

5.11 atac 2..0 been wearing them for years... i go thru a pair a year... dont get the black, they are OK but a little time for break in... tan, or green wear like tennis shoes, have a side zip for quick on and off... and a cool hidden knife pocket... all of the 511 boots are pretty nice, but the atac 2.0 is my favorite.. so far in the past probably 7 or so years, i have yet to wear out the boots.... just the tread... i wear them everyday...all day... no other shoes or boots... so they get a work out....

If I recall right they don't make em like mine anymore. I paid 479.00 for these boots. And that was around 2001.
