Would you pay $1000 for a heavily used GI 1911?

NO

I would never pay $1000 for any M-1911.

Most likely the weapons that CMP are going to get/sell will be new old war-stock. All of the guns the government bought not just because they wanted to keep the mil-industrial-complex humming, but to have some on hand to quickly equip the divisions that would need to be raised when all the ones in Germany got vaporized in the opening act of WWIII.

How do they figure pricing? I know they will be stamped CMP or something so collector value will be nill compared to a non CMP. I think they want me to believe otherwise and a lot of gun collectors like this price and maybe even had something to do with it.

No CMP stamps, these were produced before the end of WWII and served until the M9s were issued. I carried one in Desert Storm as a replacement LOL everyone else had M9s

They probably figure coming in at a inflated price will be the least disruptive way of introducing the new supply into the market. So few will sell until demand rises to meet that $1K price point.

There is always a catch.

So when you buy one of the 1911 there will be no indication, markings, etc that the pistol came from the CMP? That would be nice.
