WTB - Marlin 1894C

All lever action rifles in 38/357 and 44 are either OOS everywhere or allocated out to large volume dealers. I have one on my wants list and if it shows up in someones inventory I'll grab it up. If I can get one I can beat the above prices on a BNIB one.

Agree, I just tracked one this week on GB and it sold for $796, with 19 bids. It was J.M marked, pre-saftey, good condition. I own one of these, but if I was looking for a .38 /.357 now I'd seriously consider the Rossi or Henry due to price alone.

Agreed, im looking at the Rossi now. I just cant see paying 50% more for a gun than retail when it is used.

if you get one BNIB (excluding some NOS treasure you happen to stumble upon) you'll be selling a remington built 1894. feel free to do your own research, but there is a reason that "real" marlins are commanding such a premium. more often than not, a remington marlin ends up being returned to the factory for repairs. i have one remington built marlin in my collection, and i will never purchase another one. it arrived with a mis-stamped barrel. the model number and proof mark were actually under the forearm. i sent it back to remington on my own dime, and they rebarreled it. they also returned it with a broken butt stock, which i had to repair. never, ever again.

The new Remington/Marlins serial #'s start with the letters MR , the difference in quality will jump out in your face, Remingtons are JUNK, I have one and will not sell it to anyone due to it being junk and un-repairable their warranty service sucks.

mine is actually a transition gun. it has a 91XX serial number, but a REP proof on the barrel on the right side, just in front of the receiver. Marlin built rifles will have a JM proof stamped on the left side of the barrel, just in front of the receiver, and they will be built prior to 2009. to determine the year of manufacture, subtract the first two digits of the serial number from 100 = year built. for example, a 01xxx serial number rifle would be 100-01 = 99...built in 1999, or 93xx = 100-93 = 07, built in 2007.

the transition happened in 2009, and there are some "mutt" guns like mine. i have mine sorted out now, but it was a pain....4 months to send off and get back. that being said, it is as nice now as my JM'ed 1894 cowboy in 45 colt...just needs some action smoothing/more rounds cycled. all marlins could benefit from touching up the action contact points, fresh from the factory.

That price is for a Rossi, post your selling price for a new Remington/Marlin 1894 .357

I'm aware of what it is. I have talked with the OP and have discussed his options. If he, or anyone else would like the Remington/Marlin 1894c I'd be happy to get it for them. However, as I stated earlier they are OOS with no estimated arrival date. If you want one of these:

my price would be $560 + 7% sales tax if paid in cash or money order. Add another 3% if you need to pay with a credit card.
