Here's a cool bit of history that is still good and useful advice for anybody who has an M1 Garand, and to a lesser extent, military rifles with a peep rear sight.

It's a WW2 basic training manual for recruits on the subject of rifle marksmanship
--how to get in a proper shooting position
-- how to use the sling
-- how to control your breathing
-- how do you squeeze the trigger without jerking it
-- correct sight alignment
-- adjusting the sights in the field for wind conditions and distance to the target ....
 
CMP in Talladega is having a D-Day action rifle shoot this Saturday if that's your thing. I don't have an MG42 so I'm a no show.
